Sunday – New Hampshire
Today was a great day. Got up early and had a traditional breakfast with my cousin’s family Steve and Sue, their daughters Nora, Thea and Merike (the graduate), Uncle Bob and Aunt Esther and my mom.
My cousin Steve made whole oat pancakes; there was fresh butter, pure maple syrup, fresh molasses, and something called sorghum I stuck with what I knew maple syrup. Oh yeah and coffee.
My Aunt Lois arrived around 10:30 and we all had a wonderful visit, many pictures and lots of catching up for the three siblings. We all sat down to lunch / dinner around 12:30, homemade turkey tetrazzini, locally grown fresh beans, locally grown fresh cucumbers and of course graduation cake.
I was able to sneak a walk in before lunch around 11:30, a walk pace of 14.5 min miles, not bad. After lunch Steve showed my mom, Uncle Bob & Aunt Esther their property – at least a good view of their 300 plus acres that will eventually be part of a land trust conservancy which is aimed at preserving the integrity of the natural and historic landscape. Then I got a chance to hike out about ¼ of mile to see an area where he could not drive the others. So incredibly beautiful is about all I can say I saw a wild turkey in flight and a grouse run in the other direction, just simply amazing.
We headed out around 5:30 back to my Aunt Lois’ home in Maine – we even beat her home making the trip in little less than 1.5 hours – I fly low.
Although we were not all that hungry my Aunt Lois had made a turkey bean/rice soup for dinner – so it was at least light.
Yet again another total vacation day-
Make yours a total vacation day too!
