After my little revelation last night I think I understand the relation between ketosis and any kind of carbohydrates. Usually I would consider carbohydrates bread, chips, crackers, pasta, that kind of thing, but I forget that fruits & vegetables are a form of carbohydrates. Just like grain based carbohydrates, fruits & vegetable carbohydrates convert to sugars and that is why certain fruits & vegetables are so restricted. While Apples are on the list I have had to keep them off my list because they raise my sugar levels so much, and cauliflower is a vegetable that I really like, but it is not on the list and I had to think about that one, but it is a sweet vegetable which is probably why I like it so much, but haven’t been able to eat.
With this new-formed realization, I have also realized that portion size of vegetables I eat may be bigger than what I am suppose to be eating. I am always very conscious that I eat 4 oz of protein and a small amount of vegetables, but I am cutting even that amount in half and we will see how that goes.
Held it together today, I had broccoli at dinner and then a very small amount. The remainder of the day I had my drinks, my albacore tuna for lunch sans any salad. The vitamin B shot I had yesterday is kicking in and I had lots of energy got some yard work done and had an early morning appointment. The weather was so dreary this weekend that I did not do a second day of open houses.
So now it is time for bed and then up early to work out at the office gym.
